Manufacturing Process Overview

Rotational Molding

Tumble powdered polymer in a heated mold to build hollow, stress-relatively-uniform parts.

Advantages
  • Low-pressure tooling relative to injection
  • Good for large hollow parts
  • Uniform walls without parison programming
Limitations
  • Longer cycles
  • Limited fine detail vs injection
  • Material options narrower than injection molding
How it works
  1. Charge powder into mold
  2. Heat while biaxially rotating
  3. Cool while rotating
  4. Demold and finish

Typical fit: Large tanks, kayaks, and hollow industrial containers
